Huge progress within the halls of Playnet/CRS CONTINUES!!
We are pleased to announce that as of December 10th, 2024, Chokepoint UE5 Alpha 1.1 is now available for WWII Online Premium Subscribers! Community Play Tests of Chokepoint UE5 Alpha 1.1 will begin within the next few weeks!
We are still navigating this work and re-adding content to Chokepoint. The good news is, WWII Online: Chokepoint is now playable in an early alpha stage and ready for your feedback! Our faithful WWII ONLINE Community can help us track down issues we need to squash using our Bug Reporter.
This marks a critical achievement of demonstrable progress as we pursue WWII Online 2.0, as Chokepoint represents the advancement of our infantry system designed to replace 1.0's infantry assets and abilities. It should be noted that things continue to evolve, based on project needs and now the inclusion of community feedback is going to help us refine things further.
WHAT TO EXPECT IN THIS EARLY PHASE
We have had to repair or otherwise recreate multiple items such as animations, textures, lighting and other core functionalities to make Chokepoint work in UE5. The migration has been a monumental task to navigate.
Weapon types for the U.S. and German sides are limited to ensure that all other aspects of gameplay are tightened up. You will be able to use the primary battle weapons for each team such as the M1 Garand and K98 rifles, M1911 and P38 sidearms.
You will be playing on La Fiere initially, then Carentan once it has been completed (currently at about 75% readiness). Massive work has been applied to both maps leveraging the latest and greatest tools that UE5 has to offer. Eglise will be the third map added, consistent with our original plans; after La Fiere & Carentan are rock solid.
BE PATIENT
This is a necessary process of having to rebuild this project to work within UE5, as several key foundational aspects were rendered obsolete with the transition from UE4 to UE5.
